Roulette games at a glance
In roulette, there are 38 or 37 numbers, also called houses, ranging from 0 (zero) to 36. In American roulette, one more house is included, 00 (double zero). The numbers on the roulette wheel do not form an order, on the contrary, they are out of sequence and alternate between red and black. The houses with zero and double zero are the only different ones, as they are green.
The roulette wheel is spun in only one direction, while a small ball is spun in the opposite direction, passing through all the roulette houses. As the roulette wheel slows down, the ball stops in a house. The house number where the ball stops is the winner. If the player’s bet 3win included this number, he wins. If not, he loses.
The roulette table is very similar to the craps table, as it marks the bets that players can place. On the betting table, the numbers are arranged in three vertical columns and twelve horizontal lines. The zero usually receives a line just for it. You can bet on just one number, including zero.
Next to this grid are the other bets, described as “outside bets”, that is, external bets. These bets cover more than just the roulette numbers, the player being able to bet on all red numbers, on all black, odd, even numbers, on several columns, lines, etc.
French Roulette
French roulette differs from other roulets ( European and American, which will be seen at the front ) by the design of the roulette itself ( the order of the numbers changes ) and the design of the table, as the French offers different betting options. French roulette, in fact, offers a better probability for the player than American and European roulette, as the house advantage is relatively less.
French roulette has the houses with the numbers from 1 to 36 and the house from zero, making your chance of winning 1 in 37, which in itself already makes it more advantageous than the American roulette, which has the double zero (chance to win: 1 in 38).
Attention! The French roulette table has the numbers all in green, but this is purely a style detail, as you keep betting on reds or blacks.
You may then ask yourself: what is the advantage or difference of French roulette? The biggest advantage of knowing how to play French roulette is a rule called La Partage. This rule states that even if you place a 1: 1 bet ( Manque, Passe, Rouge, Noir ), and the ball falls to zero, you only lose half your bet, instead of losing the entire bet. This leaves an advantage to the player, who will have more money available to bet.
European Roulette
The most popular type of roulette is European roulette. It has the numbers from 1 to 36 and zero. Because of its unique zero, European roulette is more advantageous for players than American roulette, as it has a considerably lower house advantage.
As in American roulette, which will be described in the topic below, in European roulette the house advantage also remains quite stable, at 2.7%, regardless of your choice of bet.
You can see that the chances of winning increase in European roulette and that, even if it is little, it ends up offering better chances to players. If you’re new to roulette games, it’s worth a try.
American Roulette
American roulette has houses that go from zero to 36 and an extra house, the double zero (00). This extra house gives the casino a greater advantage and, when compared to other roulette games, betting on American roulette is not advantageous for the player.
Here, the house advantage is 5.25%, quite high when compared to other games of chance , such as craps (dice) . The design of the table is the same as that of European roulette, but it has a double zero (00).
The double zero of American roulette also allows an exclusive bet, called Five Number Bet (bet of five numbers, translated to the letter), which is considered the worst bet of all time in roulette, since the casino advantage rises to 7 , 89%.
3D Roulette
Most people believe that 3D technology is very recent. But this is not true. There are historical records that link this technology to Leonardo Da Vinci, Euclides, Giotto and Caravaggio, who in their time already studied the illusion of depth, in an attempt to make the elements “jump” from their canvases.
Such an innovative technology had to reach casino games and be worth betting. Roulette, as one of the big favorites, would eventually be the target of creating a 3D version.
The great advantage of 3D is the realism it can print in the game and in the image itself. Since the main objective of online casinos is to offer the best and most real gaming experience to their players, 3D would effectively be the ideal technology to invest.
By choosing to play in 3D, the player will get a unique experience. And the bet is not only on image quality! The casinos have made a real effort to be able to meet the expectations of the players also in other aspects of the game, such as the sound, the environment around the roulette wheel, the possibility of playing directly with real people, among others.
Live Roulette
Admittedly, playing online has many advantages. It is much more convenient, much more accessible, and probably much easier too. But not everything is roses. There is a lot that is also lost, one of them (and perhaps the main one) the whole social part of going to a casino. Seeing people, being with people, experiencing so many emotions up close and sharing them.
But playing online also has many advantages. You can stay at home, comfortably on your sofa, while enjoying a fun gaming session, safely, at your pace and in your space. This perspective is certainly also very attractive.
The live casinos were the second stage after the onset of online casinos, with the development of video streaming technologies. The first games to offer a live version were live roulette and live blackjack .
Important notesIn the early days, games were only available with a dealer and a single table, a few hours a day. The success was such that almost all online casinos nowadays offer live games, available anytime and in a wide variety.
The truth is that the leap to live was something truly innovative for online games, the missing piece to make the online casino environment truly real. In addition, they also allowed the business to expand, as most casinos took the opportunity to suggest other games to players while they waited for their turn in the steaming queue; this way the business flowed.
Playing roulette in a live online casino has become something fantastic, offering an unparalleled degree of realism, and enabling the player to truly feel at a real casino without leaving their own home.
Currently, most casinos offer several live roulette tables, in their most varied versions and in an uninterrupted way. Whatever time you seek to have some fun with a good game of roulette, there will always be a dealer on the other side waiting for you. In addition, nowadays, many casinos still offer the possibility for the players themselves to communicate with each other.
